  1. Aw, so sad you're trip is cancelled. :| Although, you know, America can be scary. (What?! I READ the books. Aliens and zombies always attack America. It's safer to live in Australia.) Eeeeh, I want to read We Were Liars so so bad. Everyone leaves this mega-cryptic reviews and it's killing me. I must know. I MUST.

(And also I had no idea Shimmer was like a bk #3. Whyyyyy do I get sent sequels when I haven't read the first books. Whyyyyy. *weeps*)

  5. Yay for Aussie YA! I've always wanted to read more books from Aussie authors since they don't get as much attention. The covers for all of these look amazing so I hope you enjoy! :D Happy long weekend!

  7. I absolutely LOVE Nina LaCour--her prose is flawless and her characterization even more so, so I really hope you enjoy her work. I wasn't a big fan of We Were Liars, necessarily, but I'm an exception to the hype. The Archived, though, I've heard is quite good and the sequel seems to have gotten rave reviews as well, so I'm curious to see what you make of it. Wonderful haul, Mandee!(:

That means the book was amazing. Also other books I have heard of but haven't read. Still hope you'll enjoy them. Great haul, Mands :)

I've heard oh-so many great things about We Were Liars so I simply must pick myself out a copy! And The Archived!! I still need to read my copy as well but I'm excited to...who knows, maybe we'll read them close together hehe (Mine is an e-book but after seeing your GORGEOUS navy + silver hardback I believe I'll be upgrading if I love it - probably will) Enjoy ALL your lovely books Mands xxxxx

  18. Oh, I got to read The Fifth Beatle. I have read another graphic novel that was the story of another "fifth" Beatle, Stuart Sutcliffe. I cried over the real story and the one in novel form, it was called Baby's in Black by Arne Bellstorf. Such a tragic and real love story. Inspired by Sutcliff's story I bought a beautiful book with lots of Beatles photos taken by Sutcliff's girlfriend, Astrid Kirchherr. I recommend both books with all my heart.

Sorry to hear that you had to change your plans.

  20. Oooh, you got two of Nina LaCour's books! I've read Hold Still and really loved it. Haven't got my hands on Everything Leads To You yet though, but I want to read it so bad! Hope you'll enjoy those books. (: And oooh, The Archived! I'm so curious about that book. Haven't heard of Gossip of the Starlings before but I just checked it out on Goodreads and the blurb sounds really interesting... I'd love to hear what you make of it! (:

  21. Squee! The Archived :D I luurrvved that book. Hey with the hardcover, don't you love the FEEL of the jacket? I couldn't stop creepily petting it when I got it - it feels awesome.

Yay for We Were Liars, that looks like a gorgeous book, I really want to read it! Not long now until we get it in Australia!

  23. Beatles Mania! Sooo cute! You know, you'll have to show us a photo of when you were a little poppet now. It's funny how we're influenced by our parents and their music, I still love Elvis. I think back then, you were either a Beatles or Elvis fan.

I'm dying to read We Were Liars, but I'll have to check out her other books, now they come so highly recommended. Awesome purchases this week Mands, such a mixed bag.

And I love your owl mug. I've gotta get one of those :)

  24. Aw, i'm so glad you were able to get The Fifth Beatle. I really hope you live it, since you're a big fan of the band. I learned a lot about Brian...he really made the Beatles into who they were.

I loved We Were Liars too. :)

  25. Aww, I'm still sorry you didn't get to come over, but buying yourself some new books is always a great way to make up for it! I had no idea the inside of The Archived looked like that! Now I feel the need to find myself a hardcover copy just for that reason. Also to read, but mostly for the pretty. :)

  26. So bummed you had to cancel your trip but a book buying spree is the perfect antidote to any disappointment for me too. Glad you got such wonderful books! I love Hold Still and The Archived. Happy reading!

  27. Sorry you had to cancel your plans, but I'm happy you treated yourself. Sometimes you just need to pamper yourself with beautiful books. I need to buy a copy of We Are Liars still, but I'll probably wait until it comes out in trade PB which is my preferred format. I have Everything Leads to you on my Kindle, but haven't read it yet. I do plan on making time for it soon. I love that pretty cover. Great haul and happy reading! I hope you had a great week!

  28. I bought Water Colours in the Booktopia sale too :) I hadn't heard of her books before either. I'm interested to see what it's like! I bought about 10 books in that sale haha.
That Fifth Beatle graphic novel looks gorgeous! And so does the hardcover of We Were Liars. I got that on Netgalley but haven't got around to reading it yet, I haven't read any of e. lockhart's books, I really need to, especially if you love them so much.
I love that cover of Everything Leads To You too! I haven't read any Nina LaCour either! Her books do sound good.
The Archived sounds so interesting! I'll have to check it out at some point.
Looks like you got some great books in your binge, good on you :)
