Stacking the Shelves (11)

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews - it's a way for us to share the books we received during the week

No vlog this week but I do have a few books to share - for months I've had a huge box of books purchased from book fairs and these are the final three I have to add to my shelves after reorganising and getting rid of a bunch.

Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld - this has such mixed reviews from 1 to 5 stars, but I'm keen to give it a go

Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac by Gabrielle Zevin - I haven't read much about this one, and I've only read one of the author's other books, but it sounds interesting

Watercolours by Adrienne Ferreira - this is Aussie YA and I adore the cover!

  1. A nice set of books Mandee! They are all new to me so I'm looking forward to hearing what you think. Lovely covers on each.

Have a great week & happy reading! :-)

  2. I know I read Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac, but I don't remember if I enjoyed it or not. Or much about the book. I read it awhile ago, though, so I'm curious to see what you think of it. Zevin is certainly an author I've heard of quite a bit. Enjoy your haul, Mandee!

  6. They all look like great reads based on the covers of them.

  7. I hope you like Prep! It's a book that got under my skin and that I read at a point in time when I could most relate to it... so it's a pretty intense/important book for me. I still reflect on it, or draw comparisons to it during conversations... so I really can't wait for your review! People either love/hate it, I guess. Great haul :D

  12. Oh I've seen Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac around quite a bit, I read one book by this author and didn't really like it, but I think that this book would be more my sort of read. I hope you enjoy all your pretties Mands!

    1. It's good that you remembered it, it's when you don't remember a book that usually means you didn't like it ;)

  15. Nice haul and very cute blog!

I think a lot of whether of not you enjoy Prep will rely on whether you love or hate the MC. She's an acquired taste!

  16. I've read one of Gabrielle Zevin's other books too, but I wasn't too keen on it. But this one sounds like it is worth checking out (I look forward to your thoughts on it!). And I love the cover for Watercolours too. :)

    1. Sometimes that's enough to put me off an author, but I will usually give them another go, such as in this case :)

  17. I'd love to check out something else by Gabrielle Zevin! I've read 2 books, and I loved one and DNF'ed the other, lol, sooo I need to try something else! ;)

  19. Watercolours' cover is ADORABLE! I have no shame in buying books solely because of their covers & that's one that would definitely come home with me. :)

As for Zevin, I've only read her latest - the adult novel The Storied Life of AJ Fikry - but I loved it. Absolutely loved it!

  21. Yes the cover to Watercolors is so pretty. I hope to see a mani of it one day. :)

  22. I had no idea that Watercolours was considered YA, we've got that and the other books by that author in Fiction and most of people I'd seen pick it up were people at least in their 30's. I TOTALLY agree with you about the cover though, it's really pretty.
