  2. Good luck with Side Effects. I'm really keen to see what you think of it (I didn't have such a good time, but hey! I've seen some raving reviews). And that edition of Looking for Alibrandi is SO nice. I listened to it on audio a while back, but this edition is gorgeous.

    1. I'd love to listen to the audio of Alibrandi, it'd be a great way to re-read!

  3. Ooh, the hardcover of Looking for Alibrandi looks adorable! It's so neat that they're re-printing it, and especially that it remains one of her most famous novels despite the fact that Jellicoe Road received many awards. Side Effects May Vary seems promising, though I'm not sure it's for me. I hope you enjoy it, though, Mandee! Wonderful haul! :)

  4. I love the cover of Looking for Alibrandi! I have to admit that my old copy is very dog earred and loved... I remember being in year seven back in 1999 and lending it to everyone I knew! Hope you enjoy Side Effects May Vary

  5. Ohh, I love the Looking For Alibrandi cover, absolutely gorgeous! I've actually never read it. As I was finishing school, they were bringing in as a VCE / HSC novel for English. We had Shakespeare. Booor-riiing. A Steven Herrick novel! Since reading The Simple Gift, I've wanted to move onto a few of this other releases, so can't wait to see what you think of it.

  6. I LOVE the new Looking for Alibrandi edition, so pretty, plus I love the book! I liked Side Effects May Vary, but I didn't love it the way everyone else does. As for Jarvis 24, it recently popped up on my radar and I look forward to reading it.

Can't wait for VMars! It's a shame I won't be able to see it at the cinemas but one way or another, I'll be watching it. Enjoy!

  7. Love that you are reading a lot of Aussie YA. I look forward to learning about new books that I might not hear about so much in the US.

  22. Oh I didn't know that VM was screening in Sydney! I'm still not sure I want to watch it though, I'm not sure I'm convinced it's going to be worth it. S3 was so disappointing for me and it really took a lot of my love for the show and I'm not sure I'm convinced to reinvest myself in it again.

I like the Looking for Alibrandi cover, though I think the original with the girl sitting in the coffee shop did sort of capture that era. I actually really disliked the book, I had to read it for school. This looks very fun, but I kind of feel it makes the book audience seem much younger than it is.
