Stacking the Shelves (1)

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews - it's a way for us to share the books we borrowed, bought or received during the week.

Oohers, what's this? Well, I've decided to trial combining my book blog with this blog, so from now on The Bookish Manicurist will also feature YA book reviews as well as bookish manicures and nail art. More info in the vlog!

For review:

The Cracks in the Kingdom (The Colours of Madeleine #2) by Jaclyn Moriarty (Aussie YA)
Broken (Avena #2) by Marianne Curley (Aussie YA)
Silver People by Margarita Engle
Vampire Academy: the Ultimate Edition by Michelle Rowan and Richelle Mead

Pressie from a friend:
Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Marie Semple

And I got one new polish: Pretty Serious The Pink One

Have a great weekend!

  4. I'm so excited for Cracks in the Kingdom, Mandee, especially after seeing your rating on Goodreads! Nomes also posted that she thought it was even better than the first novel, which I loved, so I can't wait to receive my copy of this installment in the mail soon. Wonderful haul, dearest, and enjoy! :)

  7. I think it's a great idea to combine blogs, Mandee. I wouldn't want the hassle of running two blogs either. I love all your nail polish creations. They're like mini works of art! :)

I can't wait to see the VA movie. It's been a while since I've read the books, but I think it's better to go in not remembering too many details. Enjoy your reads and I can't wait to see what you do with that new nail color. :)

  8. Great haul of books and goodies! I still need to read the VA series, or at least book one, before the movie comes out. I've been seeing a lot of great Aussie YA recently, wish we got more of it over here as they look really great! Enjoy all your books and thanks for stopping by my post :)

  11. I love that you are combining both! Books and awesome nail polish posts? Yes please! I was going through some of your posts on here and I am dying to try (and fail miserably) at some of them! They are all so beautiful. I adore the Frozen nail's you did. They are adorable! :)

  13. I also think combining will be great. It seems like a lot of work to run two blogs. I can barely do the one. Lol. I've been meaning to read A Corner of White. I absolutely love the cover for The Cracks. I've heard good things about Where'd you go. I hope you love all of your new books...and your new polish is very pretty.

  14. Hi Mandee. Good luck on the merger. I know how hard it can be to run two blogs. One inevitably gets less attention. Luckily your blogs have a connecting theme. I think'll it'll be good and will hopefully kick start your blogging again.

Nice haul this week. I think the VA book is like a guide to the universe or VA. I have one but I have not read it yet. And I totally want to read some Jacklyn Moriarty. The covers are so cute.

Pretty Serious is a brand that I want to try this year. I love hot pinks as well. Hope you enjoy your new polish.

Wish you were coming to ALA this year but I am sure you'll have a great time with your family on vacation. Have a fun week!

  16. I hadn't seen this post yet, so I was confused because your blogs seemed to have merged. I think it's a fab idea to combine them. Much easier for you and adds a splash of something different to both blogs! Interesting books this week. I haven't read Vampire Academy yet, but I'll have to soon. Happy Reading!

  17. As I said in my email, I think combining them will be great and it's always fun to see how different people use/interpret/interact with books and I love seeing how you transform the cover art into a new kind of art.
