Walking on Trampolines

Happy Friday, folks! Today I have a book manicure that matches one of my favourite covers. I adore most floral patterns so Walking on Trampolines by Frances Whiting caught my eye right away.

I started with 2 coats of L.A Colors Color Craze Sea Foam then I sponged on Ulta3 Lily White over the top for the clouds.

I painted the flowers and leaves using a fine brush and acrylic paint.

I really enjoyed capturing this book, it was a challenge but well worth the time, and the book itself is a fantastic read.

Have a great weekend :)

Mish Mash Challenge: card or board game

This week the theme of Kimber's Mish Mash Challenge is card or board game. My first thought was immediately a card game we played as children, jeu des sept familles (the seven families game). It's a French card game and we used to have a few sets but I didn't want to go searching through storage for them so I found a few versions online and went with one of those instead.

On my thumb and ring nails I used 2 coats of Australis Acid Rain. On my index nail I used 2 coats of WnW I Need a Refresh-Mint, on my middle nail I used 3 coats of Picture Polish Nude, and on my pinky I used 2 coats of China Glaze Happy Go Lucky.

The rest of the design was done using a fine paint brush and acrylic paint

I really enjoyed the theme this week, it was fun thinking back to playing this game and I'm really looking forward to seeing what games the rest of the MMC gang chose!

How to Say Goodbye in Robot

Hi all! Things have been a bit quiet on the blog but today I have another bookish manicure to share. The book is How to Say Goodbye in Robot by Natalie Standiford. I had to read the book this month and I knew the cover was one I wanted to recreate.

I started with 2 coats of WnW Tropicalia - when I was picking colours this looked like a perfect match but when photographed it looked a lot more coral than pink.

I painted the phone using a fine brush and acrylic paint.

I was going to add a bit more detail but the cover is so simple so I decided to leave my nails the same way.

Mish Mash Challenge: faux stone

This week the theme of the Mish Mash Challenge is faux stone. I was going to attempt a water spotted manicure but it looked like just as much work as a water marble, so I went with an easier option!

I used rhodonite for my inspiration and started with 2 coats of Mode Cosmetics Fresh Melon.

I followed up by sponging on Zoya Dove and over that I sponged Butter London Bossy Boots. Finally I sponged on Ulta3 Black Satin.

And here's a shot with the rhodonite crystal I have

Have a great week, everyone :)

Mint triangle nails

The wonderfully talented Pshiit is celebrating reaching 100,000 followers on IG by having a contest inspired by the shade mint green.

One of my favourite Pshiiit manicures is this one - yellow nails with triangular half moons. I have wanted to try it for ages and today I decided to give it a go using mint as the base instead of yellow.

I started with 3 coats of Barry M Mint Green.

The rest of the design was done with acrylic paint and a fine nail art brush. The tutorial is really easy to follow and while this took a while, I did it while watching Pitch Perfect so it didn't feel like very long at all.

Happy PshiiitenfĂȘte everyone!

Mish Mash Challenge: holographic

This week the theme of Kimber's Mish Mash Challenge is: holographic. I went with something simple as I'm feeling a tad uninspired!

On my thumb, index, and pinky nails I used 2 coats of A England St George. On my middle and ring nails I used 2 coats of Color Club Cherubic.

Once dry I stamped using Bundle Monster BM412 and A England St George. Then I used my smallest dotting tool to go over the dots as my stamper has been difficult lately and doesn't pick up designs very well.

Here's a shot in sunlight

And here's Color Club Cherubic on my other hand

The Trap Door

Happy weekend, folks! We don't really celebrate Halloween here in Aus, but I wanted to do some spooky nails for a competition. The first thing that came to mind was an old tv show called The Trap Door. It's from England and was created in the 80s, I remember it being on tv a lot when I was little.

Here's a clip for anyone who hasn't heard of it!

On my thumb, middle, and pinky nails I used Ulta3 Black Satin. On my index and ring nails I used Ulta3 Scarlet

Boni, the skull, was done with white, grey, and black acrylic paint. Berk, the blue guy, was done with blue and black acrylic paint, plus Barry M Matt White and Ulta3 Black Satan for his eyes.

Drutt, the spider, was done with grey and black acrylic paint, and his eyes were done with Barry M Matt White and Ulta3 Black Satin. I did the eyes on my thumb and pinky nails with yellow acrylic paint and Ulta3 Black Satin. I did the trap door on my thumb with brown acrylic paint.

These were a lot of fun to do and thanks to watching episodes of it I have the theme song stuck in my head :)
