Lovestruck Summer

Do you guys love summer reads? I do! One of my faves is Lovestruck Summer by Melissa Walker. I own the paperback and did nails for them last year (you can check 'em out here) but today I want to share a manicure I did to match the new ebook version that I just bought!

On every nail apart from my ring nail, I started with a base of Australis Sinfully Sweet. Then I taped off two sections on each nail and painted the gaps with Zoya Sweet

I painted my entire ring finger nail with Zoya Sweet.

For the details I used permanent markers - I drew on a sun, an arrow, a guitar pick, some little hearts, and made the whole ring nail into an amplifier.

If you love fun summer reads I suggest you get yourself a copy of Lovestruck Summer, now avail. for Kindle! It's one of my fave reads and made me want to visit Texas because of the amazing setting and the music events :)

Polish on Parade (2)

Morning! I'm back with another polish haul

This week I got my first order from Picture Polish! PP are an Aussie company and I confirmed with them that their range is cruelty free (no animal testing) and suitable for vegans (no animal ingredients) - yay!

Here's what I got:

Picture Polish Nude
Picture Polish Demeter
Picture Polish Camo
Picture Polish Sea Jewel
Picture Polish Marine

I love these shades and I was excited that I created two manis to try them out!

For this manicure I used 2 coats of Marine on my thumb and index nails. On my middle and ring nails I used 2 coats of Sea Jewel then I stamped using Ulta3 Orchid and Cheeky stamping plate CH50. On my pinky I used 2 coats of Marine and then I dabbed on Ulta3 New Years Eve and Ulta3 Gossip.

For this one I started with 2 coats of camo on my thumb and index. For my middle and ring nails I began with 3 coats of Nude. Then I used a small brush and Camo to add the green horizontal patches. I followed this with smaller dabs of Demeter. On my pinky I used 2 coats of Demeter. Here's a great tute if you'd like to do camo nails!

I really like the way this turned out but I did get some streaking when I applied top coat - womp womp!

Zac & Mia

Today is the release day for a new Aussie YA novel, Zac & Mia by A.J Betts. As soon as I saw the cover I knew it would be one I recreated in manicure-form. The biggest issue for me was finding the right shade of yellow. I am really picky about matching colours to the cover and all of my pale yellows were too yellow. I did a lot of searching online before I saw Inglot 968. I decided it was the one and rushed over to the only Inglot store in Sydney.

Here's a shot of it on its own just because it's so lovely

I started with 2 coats of Inglot 968 which applied really well, especially for a yellow polish.

I used the simplest method for this mani and chose to use nail art pens, rather than polish - it made the details a lot easier to do.

I used Glam Nails nail art pen in Jet Black for the outline and pupil, and Cherry Red for the petals and iris.

It's quite a simple mani, but I think it matches the sparse look of the cover. I was also thrilled to find out that the yellow did match the cover perfectly - definitely worth the dash across town!

The Weight of Water

Evening all! Tonight I want to share a mani that I did to match a really lovely YA novel written in verse, The Weight of Water by Sarah Crossan. I adored the shade of blue and the little red suitcase and could't wait to manicurise this cover!

I started with 2 coats of WnW French White Creme. Once dry I painted Zoya Robyn onto a wedge-shaped make up sponge and sponged every nail apart from my index nail.

For the suitcase I used a very thin brush and Ulta3 Scarlet. Once dry I added the heart using WnW French White Creme.

For the raindrops on the index mail I used a thin bruch and a couple of different blue and green polishes: Natio Turquoise, Orly Snowcone, Nail It! Cornflower, Ulta3 Corsican Rose, and an unnamed bottle of a pale mint green from L.A Colors Color Craze.

Lastly I drew on the two outlined raindrops using Glam Nails nail art pen in Baby Blue.

I really enjoyed creating this look - I love book covers that involve bright pops of colour on white and the same goes for manicures with the same look :)

Today I have a manicure inspired by an Australian book, Fireshadow by Antony Eaton. This was such a beautiful story and I liked the combination of the grey, cloudy cover and the fiery title font.

For the grey nails I started by painting my nails white using WnW French White Creme. Then I took a small piece of make up sponge and added Zoya Dove and Nubar Barricade. Finally I painted the tips with WnW Black Creme.

For the fire nail I found a tutorial over at Honeymunchkin (such a cute blog name!) and followed her steps. I used a yellow BYS shade (it was gifted to me by my sis and has lost the label), Zoya Jancyn, Ulta3 Scarlet, and Orly Ruby plus a thin brush.

I was going to add the cockatoo and some of the barbed wire but I didn't get the chance to go back before I took this off to create a new manicure. I do like how simple this was to do, and I really like the fiery nail!

Enjoy your weekend! xox

Happy weekend, everyone! We're off on a mini road trip up the coat today and I thought I'd share another mani before we go.

This manicure is for a book called Torn by David Massey. I really like the speckled orange look to the cover as well as the gorgeous white poppy.

I started with 2 coats of Zoya Jancyn, then I used a make up sponge to dab on three colours: dark orange (China Glaze oh How Street It Is), red (WnW Red Red), and white (WnW French White Creme).

I used a small bevel brush and WnW French White Cream to paint on the poppy. For the centre of the poppy I used WnW Black Creme, a dotting tool and a fan brush.

And finally for the barbed wire I used a Glam Nails nail art pen in jet black. I drew on two straight lines that crossed towards one corner and then added on the knotted spikes.

And that's it for today! I hope you're all having a fantastic weekend :)
